Poems by David Wright

Nobody

“It was nobody water” Nobody?
“Is water nobody?” Nobody.
A flower. “Is there nobody?”
But is a flower nobody?

“Nobody but the wind”. Nobody?
“Is the wind nobody?”
“Nobody-delusion”. There is nobody?
And is delusion nobody?

Neue Liebe

In moonlight in the forest
I saw the elves go riding
Their horns I heard sounding
The jingling of their bells
Their ponies white and antlered flying by
Like wild swans, strung against the sky
Their queen,
She bends her head to me and smiles
Now does it mean a new love, or
that I am to die?
